The 2026 Theme “Silk”
Silk — the king of fibers, nurtured by the climate and land of Japan. The single thread spun by the silkworm is supple and lustrous, enriching people’s lives and culture since ancient times. At Spinning Party 2026, we take silk as our theme and explore its world in depth—from raw material to finished product: the silkworm, the cocoon, raw silk, silk floss, and woven silk. Special exhibitions and workshops on silk are also planned.

What Is the Tokyo Spinning Party?
“Spin, dye, weave, knit, braid, sew. From person to person, from hand to hand.”
The Tokyo Spinning Party (nicknamed “Spipa”) is Japan’s largest fiber event, where creators who love handcraft and a wide variety of materials come together. Rooted in the art of spinning yarn, it has been held since 2001.

Meet
More than 80 exhibitors gather from across Japan. Talk directly with specialists in yarn, fiber, fabric, and tools, as well as people from working farms.

Touch
The feel of materials can’t be conveyed through a screen. Pick up wool, silk, linen, cotton, and more, and sense the differences with your own hands.

Learn
Workshops and lectures for everyone, from beginners to advanced makers. We offer a rich program including hand-spinning, dyeing, and much more.
